On this page we want to give you some ideas of the things you can do.
Safari: In Penaguila, which is a 15 minute drive from Alcoy, we find safaripark Aitana (www.safariaitana.com) with a total surface of 150 hectare. You can drive through the park with your car which is a 7 km track, or you can walk alongside the cages with the animals. The park has lions, tigers, elephants, camels and many more. In Vergel-Pego you have safaripark Vergel (www.safaripark.es), with more than 1400 wild animals and 150 species. Valencia finally has the third park, the innovative zoo without boundaries called the Bioparc (www.bioparcvalencia.es), where the visitor has the possibility to learn about the habitat of african wild animals and plants.
Hot air balloon: In Bocairent there is the possibility to see the spectacular countryside from above in a hot air balloon. The balloon can take up to 7 persons, and the flight time is 1 hour. The price is 175 euro per person. Click for more information www.totglobo.com. No special skills are required. You get a short instruction about safety and landing before the balloon gets airborn.
Hiking and cycling: there are many hiking and cyclings trails in the whole area starting at 10 km (Penya el Frare, a 4 hour trail) up to more difficult trails like the PR-V184 south of Benicadell, with a length of 21 km (7 hours); Or the many trails in the Sierra Mariola, like the GR 7 (3,5 hours), which starts in Bocairent, crosses the Sierra Mariola over the mountaintop of Montcabrer with an altitude of 1390 m and finishes in Alcoy.
Caves: In both Bocairent and Busot you can visit natural caves. The caves of Busot – which from the inside appear Gothic Cathedrals – have been formed during millions of years through water. Website of Busot: www.cuevasdecanelobre.com.
